What do I get from your program?
Life in Law is structured and designed specifically for lawyers. It includes:
- Initial self-assessment
- Comprehensive written materials
- Detailed assessments at beginning of each module
- Four one-on-one sessions per module by phone (as needed)
- E-mail and phone support between sessions
- Final assessment at end of program
- Six-month follow-up
What’s on the Members page?
Written program materials. Exercises are downloaded for each module, customized on the basis of your assessments and learning style. Questions and needs are addressed in the one-on-ones, action plans are formulated, and feedback and support are provided.
How much time am I expected to commit?
The exercises are designed to be thought-provoking and not time-consuming. Each one-on-one session is an hour or less. The real work occurs when you practice transforming your new insights and techniques into the behavior that leads to change. Your investment will determine what you get out of the program.
Can I pace myself?
Yes, with this caveat: Change takes time but requires movement.
The four-week modules create momentum and give you time to put the material in action. Each module reinforces the insights gained and techniques learned in the others. Blasting through them decreases the time to practice new habits and routines so they become part of your repertoire.
Conversely, life and an active practice may tempt you to slow down at certain points. Stretching out the program dissipates its impact.
What’s the difference between coaching and mentoring?
In Life in Law, distinctions between mentoring and coaching are meaningless.
Both are dynamic teaching processes. Each is collaborative and interactive. A good coach or mentor provides whatever advice, support, tools and experience a client needs at any moment to improve performance.
